The Samsung LE-46 A 656 offers countless modern digital interfaces for HDMI sources or USB mass storage units, but cuts corners on analog inputs. The Samsung boasts just one RGB input (on the first, RGB-compatible, Scart input). S-Video is not accepted on either of the Scart inputs, but can be fed into the fully-fitted front interface panel. There, analog picture and sound signals can be fed in, and a headphone jack is provided.

Additionally, digital media are accepted via the USB interface (dubbed "Wiselink"), as well as HDTV via the HDMI socket on the left of the unit. Combining this with the three rear-mounted HDMI sockets, the TV provides digital quality pictures and sound from up to four HDTV sources, or four PCs with DVI or HDMI outputs. A VGA input for analog PCs and a YUV input compatible with analog HDTV signals complete the Samsung's AV connectivity.

The Samsung LE-46 A 656's side-mounted USB input can manage and play back photos and MP3 music files from USB mass storage devices (MSC, Mass Storage Class). The Samsung also provides a "Wiselink" screen menu with a self-explanatory legend, as well as a clear user interface.

In the setup menu, automatic slideshows can be initiated (with background music, if desired). Photos are displayed as small preview images, and music titles can be handled clearly.
