LG LCD TVs
Although the South Korean manufacturer LG Electronics is one of the few manufacturers still producing plasma TVs, its focus lies in LCD, and the manufacturer currently offers 13 series of LCD TVs with various different feature sets.
LG LCD television: SL9500/SL9000
The SL9500 series is one of LG’s two current LED-LCD series. Some manufacturers try to put these TVs in a class of their own, but in reality the only difference is that they use LED backlights instead of fluorescent tubes — apart from that, they’re normal LCD TVs. These models sport LG’s latest sleek, glossy design, and offer four HDMI inputs, multimedia playback, Full HD resolution (1,920 x 1,080 pixels), and a range of sophisticated image-enhancement technologies. The SL9000 models lack support for DivX HD playback via USB.

LG’s chic new flat-panel scores plus-points for its gorgeous design, accurate video processing, decent motion clarity, and low power consumption.

LG LCD television: SL8000
The SL8000 series uses conventional fluorescent tubes as a backlight, but offers many of the same features as the 9500 series — four HDMI inputs, Full HD resolution, DivX HD playback, and Bluetooth connectivity. One major difference is that the 8000 models offer 200-hertz technology, which should produce sharper motion sequences than the 100-hertz technology of the 9500/9000 series.

LG LCD television: LF7700/LH7000
The LF7700/LH7000 series offer Full HD resolution and 100-hertz LCD technology, as well as USB playback of photos and videos. The LF7700 models have a built-in Freeview HD tuner, allowing you to watch digital terrestrial (DVB-T) broadcasts in both standard and high definition.
LG LCD TV 32LH7000
Family trees don't always run in perfectly straight lines. But while the twists and turns of real life often result from personal weaknesses or a stroke of fate, the confusion in TV-manufacturer LG's family tree seems to be pure coincidence.
LG LCD TV 37LH7000
Korean company LG wasn’t always called LG: For a long time, it was known as “Lucky Goldstar”. Then, as the company made its leap to the Western market, it began offering devices under the name “Goldstar”.
LG LCD TV 42LH7000
A cheap, bright, classy-looking LCD TV with an excellent feature set but with weaknesses in color fidelity and contrast.
LG LCD TV 47LH7000
Why keep it simple, when we can make things complicated instead? In Korean manufacturer LG Electronics' naming system, the most expensive and - they claim - best TVs don't have the highest numbers in their names.

LG LCD television: LH5000
The LH5000 is a step-up model from the LH7000. It offers 200-hertz as opposed to 100-hertz technology and should therefore produce sharper motion sequences. The built-in DVB-T tuner only accepts standard-definition content, so users will need a set-top box to receive the forthcoming Freeview HD broadcasts.

LG LCD television: LH4000
With Full HD resolution and three HDMI inputs, the LH4000 series offers plenty of value for money. It’s inferior to the LH5000 series in that it offers only 100-hertz LCD technology.

LG LCD television: LU7000
With a built-in DVD player, the LU7000 series caters to a slightly different market. This is a TV for the kitchen or bedroom and, as such, offers reduced features and connectivity — there are only two HDMI inputs, for example. Although not Full HD, the resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels is more than enough at these smaller screen diagonals.

Discontinued LG LCD televisions
LG LCD TV 42LH7000, 42 inches (106cm), 750 GBP
— The price and the bright picture make this LCD an excellent choice for day-to-day TV viewing, but picture purists should steer well clear.
LG LCD TV 42LG6100, 42 inches (106cm), 750 GBP
— Here’s another decent everyday TV. Cheap for its screen size, the 42LG6100 even offers USB multimedia playback, albeit not for digital video files.
LG LCD TV 42LG6000, 42 inches (106cm), 750 GBP
— The 42LG6000 might look the part, but it struggles to provide the contrast necessary for home cinema. Again, this TV suits everyday viewing well, but movie fans should look elsewhere.
LG LCD TV 42LT75, 42 inches (106cm), 700 GBP
— Now over two years old, the LT75 shows its age by failing to offer Full HD resolution. This is now virtually unheard of for such a large screen diagonal. One unusual bonus is the built-in hard disk recorder.
