UK HDTV owners (still) fail to make the most of high-definition content

UK HDTV owners (still) fail to make the most of high-definition content

by Matt Morgan on 04/09/2010

Figures reported by the Press Association show that, although more than half of UK households now have an HDTV, millions of viewers are still failing to use their TVs to their full potential.

April 9, 2010 — A study carried out by the British Video Association (BVA) has suggested, once again, that many HDTV users are missing out on HD picture quality. Thirty percent of those asked thought that they could watch HD content at home. But, in fact, over 40 percent of that group hadn’t set up their system correctly and were therefore still watching in standard definition. This echoes results published late last year by the BBC, which showed that over 90 percent of HDTVs in the UK were being used for SD content.
