Samsung warns of 3D side effects
It’s reminiscent of the leaflets you find in a pack of paracetamol: Samsung Australia has warned of the possible side effects of watching 3D at home; particularly at risk are young children, the elderly, and pregnant women.
April 15, 2010 — With the Samsung UE 46 C 7000, the Korean manufacturer has just introduced its first 3D TV to the market (more are expected shortly), and the 3D Blu-ray player to go with it will also go on sale soon. But there’s no pleasure without pain: Enjoying 3D material in the home cinema can lead to undesired effects, warns the South Korean electronics manufacturer on its Australian website.
The information points to possible headaches and nausea — and, indeed, some of our reviewers reported such effects when we had the UE 46 C 7000 in our lab. But that’s not all: The 3D TVs can also reportedly cause disorientation, cramps, and epileptic seizures — thankfully, we were spared any such symptoms. The most vulnerable groups are young children, the elderly, those under the influence of alcohol, and pregnant women.

Samsung UE 46 C 7000: Please consult your doctor, pharmacist, or TV manufacturer for possible side effects.
