A study by the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing (CTAM) has shown massive increases in HDTV ownership this year in comparison to 2008. More than half of the households surveyed now own a high-definition TV.

August 10, 2009 - Ownership of HDTVs in U.S. households has increased from last year's figure of 35 percent to reach an impressive 53 percent in 2009. So says a study by the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing, based on a randomized telephone survey of adult-aged consumers. The results also suggested that some buyers time their entry into the HD market to coincide with moving house: Of those that had recently arrived in a new place, 26 percent said they were likely to buy an HDTV during the next year, compared to just 15 percent of those that hadn't recently moved.
