New all-purpose weapon from LG: Full HD monitors for PC and TV
How practical: Monitors that are suitable for both PCs and TV-viewing. The three new Full HD monitors from Korean company LG come with 22-, 23-, and 27-inch screen diagonals, and are particularly suitable for studio apartments or student pads.
July 27, 2009 - A 50-inch Pioneer plasma in a one-room flat? Unthinkable! But, thought LG's designers, why not combine business with pleasure? Why not build a universal monitor that's suited both to working on a PC and to watching TV or playing video-games?
The result of this is the new Full HD monitors from LG's M62 series. Hitting the market in Germany in late August, the M2262D, M2362D, and M2762D will come with 22-, 23-, and 27-inch screens respectively.
The displays have a built-in DVB-T tuner, as well as offering media-playback functions, and, when in TV mode, can be controlled using the supplied remote control.

All-rounder: TV and PC monitor in one device - LG's 23-inch M2362D.
According to the manufacturer, the reaction time of the Full HD panels is five milliseconds, while the dynamic contrast is quoted at 50,000:1. All three LG models offer a range of picture-format settings - 16:9, 4:3, Original, Zoom 1, Zoom 2, and 14:9 - and can work as a stand-alone TV thanks to their two built-in, 3-watt speakers.
It's no wonder, therefore, that there are quite a number of interfaces on the rear of the unit: 2 x HDMI, DVI-D with HDCP, VGA (D-sub), component (YPbPr), cinch audio, 2 x Scart, antenna, RS232C, PC audio, and USB.
LG hasn't yet announced pricing for the United Kingdom, but the devices are likely to cost around the sterling equivalent of their euro prices - 279 Euros (about 240 GBP) for the 22-incher, 299 Euros (about 260 GBP) for the 23-incher, and 429 Euros (about 370 GBP) for the 27-incher.
