LOVEFiLM to be available through Sony TVs

by Matt Morgan on 03/18/2010

The DVD rental service LOVEFiLM has entered an agreement with Sony that will make films available for streaming through Sony’s Bravia range of TVs and Blu-ray players.

March 18, 2010 — As manufacturers roll out 2010’s new ranges of TVs and Blu-ray players, many have expanded their TVs’ internet capabilities. Sony, for example, has teamed up with LOVEFiLM to bring viewers direct access to streamed films and TV shows. LOVEFiLM currently offers postal delivery of rental DVDs, as well as online streaming to PCs. The new system will make the process of getting the content onto your TV screen faster and easier: Users will simply need to select the service from their Sony TV or Blu-ray player’s menu bar in order to access their LOVEFiLM account. From here they’ll be able to search for titles by category or see a list of the most watched content. The service is available now to customers that fulfil three requirements: they must have a UK internet connection, an active LOVEFiLM subscription, and a so-called “LOVEFiLM Ready” device — in other words, a new Sony TV or Blu-ray player.
