LG leaks release schedule for 3D TVs

by Televisions.com Germany on 02/25/2010

A leaked spreadsheet has reportedly given an early indication of LG’s planned release date for further 3D TVs: Several new models will hit the market in mid-May.

February 25, 2010 — A spreadsheet put online (and since removed) seemed to release details of LG Electronics’ planned product releases in 2010. According to reports on various news websites, the apparently accidental leak suggested that a number of 3D TVs will arrive in mid-May, following LG’s initial April release of the LH9500. LG presented the LH9500 at the CES 2010, but hasn’t yet given details of any other such models.

LG LD920 3D TV

LG’s 3D TVs have already shown their face in the UK: Pictured here is the LD920, which LG supplied to pubs around the UK for Sky’s test 3D broadcast at the end of last month. Unlike the LD920, the new models will use active shutter glasses.

Other products mentioned in the document included a 3D Blu-ray player, also expected to arrive in May. LG’s 3D glasses will begin shipping in mid-April. These are reported to be active shutter glasses, instead of the polarised filter glasses used with the LD920 for Sky’s test 3D broadcast on January 31.
