The third-generation StudioTek 130 impressed across the board: Both the measurements and the visual impression quickly defined the home-cinema standard following the screen’s release. That honour has now passed to the Da-Lite JKP Affinity. Be warned, the StudioTek 130 can only fully deliver its strengths in ideal conditions — if the room isn’t perfectly dark and the walls aren’t pitch black, the GrayHawk, also from Stewart, might be the better choice.

Technical Details
Outstanding: Even video-pope Joe Kane is pleased with the quality of the StudioTek’s, which proudly bears the JKP logo.
Put simply, this is one of the best screens on the market. In Hollywood, Bollywood, and the rest of the world, this was the reference screen of choice before the arrival of the Da-Lite JKP Affinity. Video pope Joe Kane is sure to agree with the StudioTek’s virtues, since he played a considerable part in its development — here, Joe Kane and the manufacturer created a screen whose exemplary colour fidelity and consistently high picture quality quickly made it a must-buy for big studios the world over.
Projections in 1080p format need no longer suffer from irritating screen-related artefacts, and this is something that the third generation forcefully underlines. Despite slight glitter effects, there’s no hotspot to be seen here — on the contrary, the glitter even manages to produce a slight brightening. We measured the gain value at 1.3, almost twice the value recorded for the DNP Supernova. Larger screens — with a width of 2.5 meters or more — profit hugely from this high gain, especially since colour optimization often reduces a projector’s brightness.
