ViewSonic announces a new 3D projector
A newly released projector from ViewSonic provides support for 3D video, but stops short of offering Full HD resolution. Still, at this price, the projector will allow the mass market to indulge its 3D curiosity.
March 4, 2010 — Shortly before the world’s major electronics companies unleash their flood of 3D technologies next month, some 3D products are already beginning to trickle through the dam. Acer, for example, recently announced a new 3D projector; now, the Taiwanese projector is joined by the ViewSonic PJD6531w, which offers support for high-definition 3D signals.
Available immediately in the US, the projector uses DLP technology and offers a resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels. Although that’s short of Full HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixels), it still counts as “HD ready”, and should allow the projector to display 720p-format HD video with no scaling. The projector also claims to deliver 3,000 lumens of light output and a contrast ratio of 3,200:1.

ViewSonic’s sleek new PJD6531w accepts both 2D and 3D signals.
