Sony advertizes its new multimedia projector, the VPL-BW7, as being suitable for all applications — from home theater to watching sports to video gaming. The slight drawback: given the price, at just 750 GBP, there’s no Full HD.

October 12, 2009 — Of course, at a price like this, you’ll have to be prepared to compromise. In this case, it’s Full HD that you’ll have to live without — the projector has a resolution of ‘only’ 1,280 x 800 pixels. If you can take that blow, a relatively small price tag gets you a projector that can be used in a wide variety of applications and that’s bright enough (around 2,000 lumens) for daylight use.

According to the manufacturer, the VPL-BW7 is suitable for projections with a diagonal of up to 80 inches — and from just 2.3 meters away. That kind of performance means the Japanese projector is destined for use in smaller rooms. Three preset picture modes and three individually adjustable presets will, Sony says, provide flexibility for all possible lighting situations and applications. The VPL-BW7 goes on sale this month.
