New DLP projector from BenQ with Full HD resolution
In September, BenQ will release a new DLP projector onto the German market. The device claims to offer Full HD resolution and a contrast ratio of 50,000:1 for a price of around 2,150 GBP.
July 20, 2009 - BenQ touts the W6000 as having Hollywood-level picture quality. The company bases this gleaming description on the device's Full HD resolution, 50,000:1 contrast ratio, 1.07 billion colors, 2,500 ANSI-lumen in normal mode (1,100 in Cinema mode), and numerous sophisticated technologies. Both of these ANSI-lumen values, however, seem very, very high and far from realistic - comparable competing models barely achieve half of these values.
Furthermore, the company draws attention to the use of HQV technology, which is supposed to guarantee "perfect picture-quality". Several frames are processed at once, with a temporary filter - according to BenQ, this should reduce noise and disturbances in the image.

On the European market from September for around 2,150 GBP: The BenQ W6000.
The "Dynamic Black" technology claims to improve the picture by recognizing the contrast differences between bright and dark, and automatically adjusting the iris in accordance. This method aims to produce a contrast ratio of up to 50,000:1.
The six-segment color wheel is supposed to be able to display 1.07 billion colors and the 3D color-management will allow individual control of the colors red, green, blue, cyan, magenta, and yellow.
Furthermore, the W6000 impresses with two HDMI 1.3 interfaces and an optical lens-shift function, which guarantees flexible projector-positioning. The zoom lens (1.5x) also provides a certain degree of leeway in terms of the distance between projector and screen.
Taiwanese company BenQ hasn't yet announced pricing and availability for the U.K. market.
