IFA 2009: New Panasonic PT-AE4000E Full HD LCD projector
As HDTV begins to take hold across Europe, Panasonic introduces a new LCD home-theater projector — the PT-AE4000E — which, it says, will set new standards in big-screen projection.
September 7, 2009 — “Rich lamp, crisp detail reproduction, and professional-level tuning features” hails Panasonic in the press release for its PT-AE4000E LCD projector.
According to the Japanese company, the ‘4000’ model significantly improves on the previous model, the PT-AE3000, extending the list of innovative technologies and features. With a contrast ratio of 80,000:1 and a brightness of 1,600 lumens, the PT-AE4000E is supposed to produce contrast-rich images on the projection screen even in bad lighting conditions.
Thanks to the newly developed lamps, Panasonic adds, the color reproduction has also improved, and the brightness has increased, especially in the Cinema mode, which is essential for home-theater fans. Naturally, the projector can display Full HD resolution (1,920 x 1,080 pixels).

Not only attractive for home-theater fans: Panasonic’s new Full HD projector, the PT-AE4000E.
On top of that, the “100 hertz Intelligent Frame Creation” technology supposedly uses vector-based motion analysis to provide fluid motion depiction and to reduce trailing effects. For the proper movie feel, the Japanese company has developed a 21:9-Cinemascope function and Lens Memory 2. In order to display the Cinemascope format across the full screen and without distortion, the Panasonic has a special lens that supports common TV formats as well as 21:9.
Lens Memory 2 allows users to set up to three different formats, store them, and then call them up later at the touch of a button. The PT-AE4000E is expected to hit the German market in November, but the manufacturer hasn’t yet indicated a price point.
