LG: New 3D Blu-ray player on sale this May
LG Electronics has announced the arrival of its first 3D Blu-ray player on the UK market this May. The BX580 will also provide network playback, and will launch at the same time as LG’s new 3D-ready TV.
March 10, 2010 — A statement released by LG today announces the British-market debut of LG’s first 3D Blu-ray player, the BX580. Equipped with the new high-bandwidth HDMI 1.4 standard, the player will be able to output 3D signals to suitably equipped TVs. It’ll also play normal 2D Blu-rays and DVDs, and, thanks to its DLNA certification, will be able to play back multimedia files over a PC network. WIFI technology means the player can even do this wirelessly. Internet access is also on board, allowing users to access a selection of online content, including weather information and the video-sharing portal YouTube. LG hasn’t yet announced pricing for the BX580 or the accompanying LX9900 3D-ready TV.
