First Blu-ray player BD 1260 R from T+A expected late October

In May, we reported on the first Blu-ray player from T+A. Now, in October, the device is finally going on sale.

October 12, 2009 — Good things come to those who wait. Some old proverbs make sense: At the end of this month, the long-awaited first Blu-ray player from German high-end manufacturer T+A will hit the market. The BD 1260 R, as the puristic-looking player is known, is essentially based on the company’s SACD 1260 R Super Audio CD player. So, we can expect not only a top-quality picture, but also superb sound.

At around 5,000 Euros (4,700 GBP), it’s not exactly a bargain: the T+A BD 1260 R.

For multichannel and stereo playback, the German company has used the same converter/analog-circuit board found in the SACD player, which has eight separate converters and is controlled by a signal processor. And in all other respects, too, the device includes only the best and most up-to-date components — that’ll be where the 5,000-Euro price tag comes from. Be warned though, T+A will release just 100 specimens of the high-end player in November and December; any impatient buyers should look into pre-ordering as soon as possible.
