3D Films to Be Released on Blu-ray This Autumn

3D fans keen to expand their home collection of 3D films can look forward to a host of IMAX films expected to be released this Autumn on Blu-ray. It is not yet known, however, whether the films will appear in the new 3D Blu-ray format.

August 2, 2010 — Amazon has announced the release of a number of 3D films on Blu-ray, with the first discs set to hit the UK market in October, according to the news portal AreaDVD. The films include titles such as “Dinosaurs: Alive!” and “Grand Canyon Adventure” and are sure to make great viewing on the spate of recently introduced 3D TVs. After all, IMAX productions are intended to give a spellbinding 3D experience in the gigantic IMAX cinemas found in exotic locations such as Sydney, Toronto, Manila, and Mumbai.

But confusion remains as to whether the films will have been converted into the 3D Blu-ray format or will simply be stored in the traditional anaglyph format. Only films in the former will make best use of the new generation of 3D technology.
